Kandyce A. Turner

Founder & Executive Director

As a multi - layered professional with a diversified skillset from Brooklyn, NY and a degree from The Pennsylvania State University, I have worked extensively on developing my work portfolio in program development and leadership skills. Beyond Sight was founded based on the idea that if you want to see the change, you have to be the change. My work with teens managing blindness and visual impairments has moved me to support change in hopes that as a collective, we can come together with other community members and push our mission forward.

Our future plan is to support teens and their families by creating an enriching after - school program serving as a safe haven for teens to engage with their peers. We will serve as a place providing support in Technology, Common Core subjects, and help exploring employment options after High School to help provide a strong foundation. Recreational Services will include but not be limited to: Art, Podcasting, Dance, and Fashion. By providing resources and support geared specifically towards literacy we can help eliminate some of the barriers to success while simultaneously encouraging inclusivity and togetherness.

My love for books and the magic literary works possess to educate you, transform your life, or take you away is the driving force behind our first phase in bringing our initiative to the community. I want to share my love for education, literacy, and escape with others seeking to provide teens with this same enriching opportunity. Through acts of service we will help create pathways to equality and access for the low vision and blindness community.
